About the Book

Don’t miss this imaginative bedtime picture book from Shane W. Evans, the award-winning artist of Chocolate Me!, We March, and many other popular titles.

It’s bedtime, but young Olu would rather play than sleep. When his father finally convinces him to go to bed and encourages him to dream, Olu’s imagination soars.

With his stuffed bear Brindle, he sets off on a grand adventure that ends at a big race. When Olu wakes up, he realizes that dreams can be as fun as real life—maybe even better!

“Olu’s imagination pours forth in stream-of-consciousness style as he encounters monsters, rides a whale and races through space,” commented Kirkus. “In one hilarious spread, the two buddies gorge on pizza and honey, eyes closed in a delicious delirium. The anime-influenced illustrations depict the spunky protagonist as a wide-eyed, cute-as-a-button child of mixed-race descent. Encourages readers to use their creative capacities.”

Shave W. Evans is the artist of many popular picture books and the recipient of the Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award.
