Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mel Tormé (1925-99) published more than 250 songs in his lifetime, mostly in collaboration with cowriter and friend Robert Wells (1922-98). Together at the piano and within forty-five minutes, they wrote the music and lyrics to one of the most beloved Christmas songs ever, appropriately titled “The Christmas Song.”
